Reeds Creek Pump Station/Force Main Upgrade:
The Reeds Creek Force Main has been upgraded from a 16” line to a new 24” force main. This will increase the capacity for this line by 50%. The pumps in this station have also been upgraded to enhance their capacity to increase the flow in the new force main line. A new mechanical bar screen should be in place by the end of the year.
Cabarrus/Magnolia/Cedar 2” Line Replacement:
The field surveys are complete for this project. This entire area needs to be upgraded due to old and inadequate water lines. Because of budget limits, it will be a three to four year project, worked out in phases. The first two years of contract work will be:
-Fiscal Year 2014-2015 - Cabarrus Avenue (from Magnolia to White) and Cedar Street(from Center to Cabarrus)
-Fiscal Year 2015-2016 - Cedar Street (from Cabarrus to the end of Cedar)
Sewer line repairs will be taking place on Kelly Street over the next few weeks with limited access down Kelly
Water Personnel continue to work to test and replace old 2" valves throughout the town system and are also continuing the meter replacement project to upgrade all meters in town to AMR (Automated Meter Reading) type meters.
Academy Street/Tunnel Road Sewer Line Construction Project:
Starting December 2 there will be intermittent road closing on North Academy and Tunnel Roads over the next few weeks as a contractor replaces sewer lines in this area.
