Community Groups Create Reading Garden at Library

27 July 2010

The Town of Mooresville received a $25,000 grant from Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation to complete a reading gazebo on the property of the Mooresville Public Library.

“The new gazebo being built in the Rotary Reading Garden behind the library is a perfect example of a public/private partnership,” said Library Director John Pritchard. The Town of Mooresville provided the property, two local Rotary Clubs (Mooresville Rotary Club and Mooresville-Lake Norman Rotary Club) provided the initial construction of the garden, the Friends of the Mooresville Public Library contributed $5,000, and Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation provided the $25,000 grant to complete the construction of the gazebo. The balance of the project is being funded by the two Rotary Clubs.

“Lowe’s has been a key factor in construction of both the library with a $2 million grant and the Rotary Reading Garden with its $25,000 grant,” said Pritchard. “They have kept their promise of supporting our community.”
