Assistant Fire Chief Hess
Assistant Fire Chief Hess is responsible for the training division at Mooresville Fire-Rescue (MFR). Chief Hess has been involved in the fire service since 1979. Since joining MFR in 1998, he has served as Firefighter, Senior Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, and Battalion Chief.
Chief Hess holds numerous certifications from Central Piedmont Community College, North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshall, and FEMA. He is a qualified instructor in hazardous materials, trench, NIMS, RIT, and firefighter I & II. Chief Hess is also a NC SCBA Specialist, a qualified Live Burn Instructor, and Pro Board Certifies Fire Officer I & II.
Chief Hess is a member of the North Carolina State Firemen’s Association, North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs, and International Association of Fire Chiefs. He serves as the Vice President of the Iredell County Firemen’s Association, as well as a Captain and Training Officer at Mount Mourne Volunteer Fire Department, where he also volunteers. Chief Hess was named Iredell County Officer of the Year in 2004. He is a dedicated husband and father.
